I tried using NAT instead of a bridged network config, this worked but my other clients on the network could not ping the VM as the address assigned to it was on a different subnet. I did some investigating and have deduced that DNS is not working for the VM. The VM however does not have access to the internet. My XP host and other clients in the network have access to the internet. So I cloned these settings for the VM except for the VM's IP of course. This has been successful, I have basically statically assigned it an address in my home network subnet.įrom the XP host I can ping the VM and the wireless router, from the VM I can ping the XP host, other clients in the network and the wireless router which is also the default gatewayand DNS for the network.Īs mentioned above, the DG and DNS for the XP host is the wireless router. I have set up the virtual machine to use a bridged connection. I have a W2k3 virtual machine running on my Windows XP box.
